About Me

My photo
here I am in a little cottage that evokes the energies of my ancestral lands - a cottage on the moors of Cornwall, or on the cliff tops of Ireland or Scotland. It has a hearth. I am a hedge witch {of sorts}. I wear upcycled clothes, patchouli oil and Redback boots. I am a gypsy; an eccentric and a mystic [I often live with a foot in two worlds]. I serve my guests, tea from an old silver teapot. I love Vervain, yarrow, chamomile & mint. Star watcher and Moon gazer. story cloth weaver. keeper of family dreams and wishes. good friend and creator of life. herbal tea drinker and potion maker.

day of the dead ~ celebrating the ancestors of this land

getting into the spirit of Halloween at this time of year, is difficult for me.. our wheel is at Beltane.. a time of gathering flowers and making garlands, a time for listening for bells to herald the arrival of the Faery Queen, a time for tying ribbons in trees and attuning to the spirit of the tree...It is the time when nature comes alive and the Spirits of Nature are most active. but it is also a time when the veil is thin between worlds..

to celebrate Día de los Muertos - I thought that I might share some more of my neighbour hood...not far from "Avalon".....

to commemorate the traditional ancestors of our land.. and those who came from afar & who forged ahead to make a way over the mountains....

good morning dear one,

the altars of dia de los muertos sing out too in the abundance of the gifts of the earth. there are flowers, fruits, seeds, many elements are present to honor the elements of nature, water, wind, earth and heaven. so your tributes to spring, emerging life, trees are in this bright circle of acknowledgment and gratitude.

thank you for taking us to your lovely home. the ancestors of your county forged a beautiful life the living all enjoy. it is so important to turn our attention to those before us in gratitude. in doing so we live in a present moment that includes their good works.

i love you friend. i am going to enjoy watching spring unfold for you as we here prepare for the dark season of introspection.
so grateful you are firmly rooted in my heart.

It must have been a hard life in the beginning. The statues are beautiful and the setting is very peaceful looking.

Enjoy the season however you celebrate it. Just enjoy being alive!

I wonder if lives or men were lost building in the snowy river scheme they built too... yes a lot of hard graft on this hard land in the early years here Robyn.. I didnt realise that this country is built on the sweat of these men. It s a hard land to live in really. enjoy your celebrations.

Blessed Beltane to you dearest Robyn. Though it is Samhain here, I am in tune with the spirit of the trees. We have many blooming flowers in the desert and it is like a 2nd Spring. Where ever the wheel and what ever the season we share this time on earth together. I send you and yours my best always. love

So, those of us who sit in the turning of the Wheel at Samhain get to come to Avalon to remember what waits for us with the New Year.

Blessings on you as the Year turns new for those of us in this part of the world. Look for a wee fairy for me and send my good wishes.
