About Me

My photo
here I am in a little cottage that evokes the energies of my ancestral lands - a cottage on the moors of Cornwall, or on the cliff tops of Ireland or Scotland. It has a hearth. I am a hedge witch {of sorts}. I wear upcycled clothes, patchouli oil and Redback boots. I am a gypsy; an eccentric and a mystic [I often live with a foot in two worlds]. I serve my guests, tea from an old silver teapot. I love Vervain, yarrow, chamomile & mint. Star watcher and Moon gazer. story cloth weaver. keeper of family dreams and wishes. good friend and creator of life. herbal tea drinker and potion maker.

Lammas ~ the first trilogy in the Harvest Festival

Lammas in Katoomba, dawned wet.. stormy wet. well, there went my plans for a ritual fire and harvest walk. hmm, so what to do to mark this turn of the season wheel?

Joe left early this morning on a bike ride for 4 days and 3 nights.. the first time we have been apart overnight for some time.. part of me is very excited about this.. I had decided on seeing this as a silent retreat.. lots of candles, gregorian chants. set up my Lammas altar

[dollies that I have made.. Brighid on the left and Spirit on the right]

and create a corn dolly to go with my beginning collection of goddess dolls set up my ancestral altar that has been on the back burner since i got home. Make some bliss balls.. clean my art room, create a Lammas page in my journal for 2013.. pull a card, do some reflection.. take a ritual bath eat clean and  healthy.. barley soup for tonight and basil pesto tomorrow night.. lots planned..

but

part of me wants to run away from being alone with myself, to be with people. anyone. just so I am not alone. fear and anxiety well up inside and I push it down.. but then, no.. I need to look at this. so journalling will be happening today.

LAMMAS

* Harvest herbs in a sacred way for use in charms and rituals
[I did this when I lived at Inglewood, but my garden here does not have the herbs growing yet.. so I am planning on a huge herb planting day, soon]

* Set a table for Lammas with colours of pumpkin orange, sunny yellow, muted brown and sage green. Use woven wheat placements and make a centrepiece of brilliant sunflowers, assorted nuts and crab-apples. In addition, agates and moonstones will bring good fortune and joy.
[a lovely idea.. I think I will incorporate this into my altar.. apples from my trees and some pistachio nuts that I was given.. ]

* Hollyhock flowers decorated every home and road to bring the "good luck" fairies to the village and home. Hollyhock flowers attract money.
[the Hollyhocks in my garden are amazing at the moment, the first time i have been successful in growing them]

Give true thanks for all that you have done - the major achievements to the thankless chores. Keep the list as your own personal harvest, tied in a red ribbon, and placed somewhere safe for you may want to view it from time to time just to remind yourself what you have actually achieved

GIVE THANKS TO THE EARTH, FOR ITS BOUNTY AND BEAUTY
