I woke up to a glittering cold morning. Jack Frost had visited and sun glinted off the ice that covered compost bins, vegie gardens and watering cans. my hose was frozen.my first Winter Solstice at Avalon.
white cockatoo has been a constant in my world the past month.. each time I sit on my little sofa and look out the window, a white cockatoo flies across my vision path.. a coincidence perhaps or a sign?
I went for a winters walk to collect Holly and Pine to decorate my home.. red candles burn on altars, yule incense from Glastonbury burns in the little hallway..my clay hearth Goddess is commissioned and blessed and will watch over my home from now on.
my main altar is decorated for yule with crystals, pine cones and
and I plan my new outdoor sanctuary..
a carnation will be planted on the weekend, at Winter Solstice place in my wheel of the year garden.

yes, a very blessed and magickal winter solstice to all

A Happy Winter Solstice to you and thank you for the wonderful tour !!
Hugs from The Netherlands ; )
I hope you enjoy the longest night -- we enjoyed the shortest night here! Winter Solstice blessings to you, Robyn!
Ah beautiful Katoomba! I can almost smell the woodsmoke. The pink gate is delightful.
Solstice Blessings Robyn :)
we had a wet and windy summer solstice here in the new forest so my usual festival fire will be lit at another time
I can visualise the sweet incense, holly and pine, your sitting and observing the flight path of cockatoo.
Be blessed dear Robyn with the energy, let it permeate your whole soul leaving you centred and at home!

Summer solstice here passed in fire and heat. Hotter here than it is usual for this early...June is usually much more temperate. I am cooled by your description and the pictures. I wish you bright blessings as you find yourSelf in the year to come.
Robyn I'm sure youll imprint your own personal stamp on avalon too, it will take time but I know you will enjoy doing that.
its freezing cold here too it was 2c over night, prob not as cold as where you are but for us its cold! I wish I was somewhere more like where you live!
a belated solstice blessing to you Robyn. After getting up at dawn to welcome the Sun, which I couldnt see for low cloud, I then caught a bus and spent our (summer) solstice in Glastonbury- it rained all day lol!
Its such a magical place that the weather doesnt matter though!

Wow I love that you are planting a "Wheel of the year garden". It is a beautiful idea. It puts my mind to wandering...Hmmm could I grow one in the desert? Using different plants of course.

Ahhh the cockatoos, seems this is the Year of the Cockatoo.
I've been yearning for a meditation area in my garden, I had spoken to my husband about building a small deck in one corner. But everytime I try to visualise it, I picture a stone paved circular feature.
