About Me

My photo
here I am in a little cottage that evokes the energies of my ancestral lands - a cottage on the moors of Cornwall, or on the cliff tops of Ireland or Scotland. It has a hearth. I am a hedge witch {of sorts}. I wear upcycled clothes, patchouli oil and Redback boots. I am a gypsy; an eccentric and a mystic [I often live with a foot in two worlds]. I serve my guests, tea from an old silver teapot. I love Vervain, yarrow, chamomile & mint. Star watcher and Moon gazer. story cloth weaver. keeper of family dreams and wishes. good friend and creator of life. herbal tea drinker and potion maker.

Day 1. how i met Mary.

a nine day Art Novena with Our Lady from Lourdes.. .MARY OF LOURDES

.....I will begin with where my journey started with Mary. Where I first 'met' her..
She wasn't in my life at all really, as a child. Except when our school bus would stop at the local convent school to pick up the Catholic children.. I would see a statue of her looking over the playground.. but to my anglican little self, she was not of my life. ..

fast forward to about 20 years or so ago.. one wet Good Friday.. Joe & I were sitting watching a movie - back then, religious movies were often shown at Easter time.. this movie was a story of 3 children..

who had visitations from Mother Mary. I watched. speechless. totally absorbed with the story as it unfolded. at times, close to tears..when the movie finished I turned to Joe and said 'Does this thing really happen?'...

Our Lady of Fatima had touched my heart... I was in love...

todays post is dedicated to my friend Maureen.. who is dying from lung cancer.
I place her under the mantle of Our Lady of Lourdes

Ive been to Lourdes a few times and yes Robyn, it is one of the most magical and special/sacred places in the world. You can go to the actual grotto virtually and place a special message directly to Mary there. Its wonderful!

What a beautiful post !!
What a sweet gesture to dedicate it to your friend. I'm sure she will find much comfort in that.
Hugs from The Netherlands.

I've never been to Lourdes but I have visited Ste. Anne de Beaupré in Quebec which is a healing site as well, dedicated to Mary's mother Anne.

The Lady would prefer you to say of your dear friend, "Today's post is dedicated to my friend Maureen who is living with lung cancer." In those affirming words, your prayer carries more strength. The Goddess hears us and knows our hearts. Love to you this day!

"Under the mantle of Our Lady of Lourdes"...such a comforting phrase for your friend Maureen, and for us all really.
Husband and I, as a young couple, back-packed to Lourdes 30 years ago. Have never forgotten the experience.

So sorry to hear about your dear friend. How lovely for you to say this novena for her. I will send some prayers as well. You know Dr. Emoto tested the water at Lourdes and it is crystal clear even after all these years.
Love you!
