About Me

My photo
here I am in a little cottage that evokes the energies of my ancestral lands - a cottage on the moors of Cornwall, or on the cliff tops of Ireland or Scotland. It has a hearth. I am a hedge witch {of sorts}. I wear upcycled clothes, patchouli oil and Redback boots. I am a gypsy; an eccentric and a mystic [I often live with a foot in two worlds]. I serve my guests, tea from an old silver teapot. I love Vervain, yarrow, chamomile & mint. Star watcher and Moon gazer. story cloth weaver. keeper of family dreams and wishes. good friend and creator of life. herbal tea drinker and potion maker.

Nativity time..

today, I unpacked my nativity scene.
a primitive clay set, made by Sophie when she was in year 6..
each year since then, it has taken pride of place at Christmas time.
I adore it.

"Sophie's Mary"

That is definitely a family treasure! I have a few things my kids made when they were little and even though some of them are getting pretty ratty looking, I still add them to my tree each year. They're my most precious ornaments.

You know I think if all the ornate Virgin Mary's were presented to our dear Lord, He'd take Sophie's little creation first.
My daughter made "St. Francis on a stick" in a school art class.(Not from clay though).
He had what had to be explained as an owl on his shoulder. (Husband and I thought it was some kind of growth).
We kept it in the shed to re-present to her at her 21st,to remind her of her artistic abilities, but mice ate through it.
There are advantages in working with hard clay for childhood creations.
Sophie's Mary is beautiful ( and mercifully inedible).

I love this...your nativity and that you and I posted about our navitities at the same time. It means that distance has no bearing on beautiful stories and sharing.
